When I was growing up my Grandma Millie had a large Stable. It was
a gathering place for kids of all ages. Hours were spent primping
the horses with braids and ribbons. Pretending to be cowgirls or
cowboys, roping and cutting cows or playing on our homemade
bucking bull. We spent a lot of time experimenting with different
types of riding and participated in local shows. The environment
presented a great opportunity to learn. This is where the idea of
the Children’s Equestrian Center was born.
Children’s Equestrian Center is a barn dedicated to the future
horseman. Structured learning is focused on safety, proper
equitation and provides an understanding in the way horses
think and behave. This, combined with the time and interaction
with other kids who share the same interest in horses, makes for a
competent horseman.
Horsemanship encourages self-confidence, responsibility, and
friendships. To own a horse is a great responsibility for a child
or a young adult, but it also creates a self-discipline that is
rewarded greatly.
The Children’s Equestrian Center creates an atmosphere for fun.
Weekly functions are planned and trails are accessible from the
barn. Lessons start in June and are included in the boarding fee
for the child's horse (2 lessons per month, void if not used
during the same month). Lesson horses are available and are
encouraged if you are not sure if your child has the lasting
interest for the investment. We have a collection of show clothes
of various sizes and they are available for use. Donations of
outgrown show clothes are always welcome.
Give your children an experience they'll remember the rest of
their lives.
