What is FBLA

It's too late to join for the 98/99 school year, but if you're a sophomore or a Junior this year, you can join for the 1999/2000 school year.

What is FBLA? What's in it for me?
How do I join? How is the chapter funded?

What is FBLA?

FBLA stands for Future Business Leaders of America. It is a professional student organization that is available to all students at Central Valley High School. Meetings are held during tap, after school, and in the evenings.

FBLA has three aspects

Social- We get to know each other and have lots of fun
Professional- Where we learn new things about business, attend conferences, and work on job skills.
Community Service- Where we give back something to the community that has given us so much.

What's in it for me?

We all want to know that don't we? Besides learning new skills that you can use over your lifetime, you will make new friends, travel, attend social gatherings, and discover things about yourself that you never knew. In addition, being a member of FBLA comes with the following perks.

  • Attend two to four conferences a year.
  • Receive a free subscription to Leadership magazine.
  • Receive a complementary subscription to one of four business magazines.
  • Receive a suitable for-framing wallet membership card.
  • Apply for FBLA scholarships in high school.
  • Run for state or national office
  • Compete in regional and state events, if you win at state, it's off to nationals.

Not only that, but FBLA is a respected organization world wide. Potential employers are looking for people who have been dedicated to a group such as FBLA. It looks great on a resume.

How do I join ?

If you wish to attend conferences, attend meetings, compete, get the suitable for-framing wallet membership card, and all that other neat stuff, you simply need to pay state and national dues to Mrs. Enevold by a specific date.

1998

Dues: $11.00
Deadline 1: October 15, 1998
Deadline 2: January 15, 1999

Dues are collected to help defray the cost of leadership conferences, guest speakers, and administrative costs. As a local chapter, Central Valley High School does not collect dues. All dues collected go to state and national levels.

How is the chapter funded?

We hold fundraisers all year long. Our goal is make sure students who want to attend conferences are never held back by financial constraints. Everyone is welcome to be a part of all fundraising activities. They are a fun part of the organization.
