Film Listings for the Crimea

At present, there are very few original church records available through the LDS for the region of the Crimea and the Taurien.  Records for the period of 1833-1885 are available for the Crimea and the Taurien and can be found in the St. Petersburg Consistory microfilms.

However, for the time period before and after, there are a scant few films.  The list below indicates those films that are for other time periods than what the St. Pete’s cover, or for other religions, such as the Catholic records.

 St. Petes

Other than microfilmed church records, there are a few microfilms of index cards for the region of the Crimea and the Taurien which include some minimal information about the people who lived in the villages there.  I have included the film numbers of these films in the listing also and also a brief explanation of what is contained on these cards.

The microfilms listed below can be obtained throught the LDS church’s Family History Centers.  You can find the FHC nearest you by calling 1-800-346-6044, Monday thru Friday, 8-5.

The following films may be of some help to people and can also be obtained through the LDS church.  The LDS has the following to say about these index cards:

“They are index cards, arranged alphabetically by governmental jurisdiction, village, and then surname, of German immigrants residing in Russia.  A separate set, arranged alphabetically by former Russian town of residence, indicates those who moved back to Germany.  Be aware, many cards are out of order, and include localities in Hungary, Rumania, Poland, and other countries outside of the Russian Empire and Soviet Union.”

You can contact the LDS computers for more information as to what is contained on each film. There is much too much info to include here.

Also, there is a group of index cards arranged alphabetically by village name, of German settlements in Russia.  No specific area is given.  These appear to be village information only, no surnames.  Again, consult the LDS computers for further information.
