German Russian Sites to See I have tried to include a listing here of sites that may be of interest to the GR researcher in general , as well as to the Crimea GR researchers. |

Since many of the Crimean colonies were formed as “daughter” colonies by villagers from other regions in Russia, I believe this page will provide some useful links to those other places. Of course, I have also included those sites that are of extreme importance to the GR reasearcher no matter where their roots are, such as the Odessa site, GRHS, and AHSGR. |

American Historical Society of Germans from Russia Includes a Master Listing of people researching the Germans from Russia, VC listing, bibliography of holdings, charts, maps, and books for purchase as well as family ancestral charts and much more |
Banat Webpage |
Includes a bibliography of books of interest to those with roots in the Banat regions which include Hungary and Yugoslavia. Some villages from Tepliz, Bessarbia came to Bessarabia via Hungary. There is also a link to a wonderful webiste full of refernce materials for the Danube-Swabians. |
Bessarabian Website |
This page is going to contain many, many important features for the Bessarabian researcher when complete. There is a FAQ that explains the St. Petersburg microfilms, and many research questions about Bessarabia There is also a VC listing, access to the Bessarbian Newsletter, information about the records retrieval project and much more to come. |

Lots of information here! Surnames, family histories, links to personal homepages of families with ties here, Borodino resources, books, maps, pictures, migration information, links to German sites, and much more. Plan to spend some time here browsing all the site has to offer. |
Dobrudscha Webpage |
Webpage offering information on the location of Dobruscha as well as some information on the archives, historical societies, where to obtain maps, immigrants to Dobruscha, and some information on obtaining the EWZ series of immigrants records. Mainly useful for background information on the region. |
FEEFHS |
Federation of Eastern Europeons Foundation Historical Societies. The site is as long on information as it’s name...take LOTS of time here, you will find a massive amount of information, more than you can ever begin to digest. Get your printer ready and take a look. The site boasts “3891 files to browse,” and I believe it! Includes a much needed search engine. |
Germans from Russia and the C.I.S. States |
Provides some background information on Bessarbia, Volhynia, and other regions the GR’s migrated to in Russia. Includes links to our old favorites, GRHS, AHSGR, the Odessa site, FEEFHS, and a few others. Also includes information on some archives and maps and what is available for each region in terms of LDS microfilms and current extraction projects. |
Gluekstal Website |
Harold Ehrmnn’s Glueckstal colonies web site includes information on the villages of Glueckstal, Neudorf, Bergdorf, Kassel, and Hoffnungstal, Odessa. The site contains village information, databases, contributed family histories, and death statistics. It also includes the Odessa Mass Executions listing. Also included are many links to other sites, computer programs, search engines, and some SD genealogy websites. |

David Obee has set up a page that lists many books for sale from the private sector including some town jubilee books. Good place to look for those hard to find books. Also some personal history on his families and the Volynian and Volga areas. |

Krassna, Bessarabia Website |
Lots of pictures of the village here! Also a village history and some other information about the village. Not much in the way of research materials for other individuals, however, the pictures alone make this a worthwhile stop. |

Manifesto of Catherine the Great |
This doesn’t really fit in a links to websites page, but....I think it is an important document in GR history and thank whomever took the time to transcribe it an make it available online for fellow researchers. There is also a migration timeline which indicates where immigrants came from and what villages or areas in Russia the migrated to. |

Includes St. Petersburg record extractions, the Bessarbian Head-of-Households index, cemetery listings, GEDCOMS, obituaries, plat map indexes, the Mennonite Census listing, much too much to mention. Plan to spend some serious research time here.... |
Pteranodon’s View: World and Global History |
A world view of history, quite an interesting page! Includes history of the areas of Crimea and Taurien (Tavrida), life in Imperial Russia with a special view on the Crimea and surrounding areas, links to GR websites, German dictionaries, Crimean websites, and even a link to add Cyrllic to your computer. |
