St. Petersburg Film Listing for Neusatz and Zurichtal

In 1832, the Lutheran churches in Russia were formed into consistories, or councils. The areas of the Taurien (which includes the Crimea), Bessarabia, Cherson, Jekaterinosslaw, and the Don Gebiet, among other regions, were included in the Consistory of St. Petersburg.

Churches in the regions belonging to the consistory were required from 1833 on to submit copies of their church records which included the births, deaths, and marriages which occurred in their parishes. These records were submitted on a yearly basis to St. Petersburg.

Several years ago, the LDS church micofilmed these records for the period of 1833-1885 and added them to their collection. These films can be ordered throught the LDS church for research purposes.
