One of my favorite bands of all
time would have to be Guns-N-Roses. Even though the band has
changed over the years, the attitude is still there.

I used to run a website called CivilWar's
Unofficial GNR Page back between 96-99, then I shut the site
down to focus on running my site about The Crow. It was quite
succesful for awhile, but my Crow site was really taking off,
and its hard to run two massive websites like that. Do I miss
running my GNR site? Yep I do, I get the occasional desire to
bring it back. My site would have had to change due to the change
in the band, there is no more Slash, Izzy, Duff, Gilby, and Matt. |

The new line up had be a little
worried, but after listening and seeing their performance from
Rock in Rio III in Brazil, I had no doubts about the new band
picking up where the old band left off. Some of the songs from
Chinese Democracy, still sound like GNR but they are a bit more
modern. It was real nice to see GNR come back at the VMA's on
MTV, even though Axl's voice sounded cracked out, that was more
due to a bad sound mix. He didnt sound that way in Tacoma when
I saw them. Below you can download three of the new songs, this
was taken from the soundboard in Pittsburgh, PA.

November 8, 2002 in the Tacoma
Dome was where I got to see GNR open their tour, since Vancouver,
BC was cancelled due to dumbass management which led to a riot.
I had a great time at the show, the sound mix wasnt that great
because of the acoustics, the crowd seemed quite receptive to
the new songs. A lot of people were expecting Oh My God to be
played, but they havent played that song since Rock in Rio III.
Axl's mic kept tweaking out on him during Paradise City, which
he overcompensated for and blew his vocal cords.
You had a few people there who
was wondering where Slash was, but at the end of the night I
dont think anybody cared as Buckethead became everyone's hero.
The robot dance he did during his solo was funny. Robin Finck
formerly of Nine Inch Nails did a great job on his solos especially
Sweet Child O'Mine. The new band seems to play the old stuff
with more intensity than the old band did. However I think the
new band needs to learn some more stuff from the Use Your Illusion
CDs such as Civil War, Estranged, and Don't Cry. |
