Climb aboard our RV
and tour the splendors of
Washington, Oregon, & Idaho . . .
...
Maxx (Illuzions' Maxximum Kotton, sepia Bengal) rides "shot-gun" in my lap on a trip in October 2000 along I-90 just west of Spokane, Washington.  You can see the trees ahead of us beginning to turn to their bright fall colors.
Ken and I travel fairly often in this corner of the US (frequently with one or more of our kitties, coming and going from cat shows, visiting my mom, and searching for good real estate deals).  I'm a frustrated photographer and we both enjoy seeing this wonderful country.  So, we decided to share it with those who may not be able to visit this area, or maybe even to encourage some of you to come see what is here.
This Month's tour:
Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
(Part II)
Even the second part of our CdA tour won't show you all there is to see here.  I've only scratched the surface.
Old Barn

Most of you are aware of my romance with sunsets, the silhouette of this old barn is in North CdA.

A Welcome

As you approach our city off I-90 along Northwest Blvd., you are greeted by these new sculptures honoring CdA's Indian heritage.

Breathtakingly Real

These feathers are constructed out of metal but still appear to be delicate, airy, and amazingly real.

Like a hand raised in greeting, the second feather stands sentry along the entrance to the beautiful "Lake City" of Coeur d'Alene.
Dam on the Spokane River

The Spokane River flows out of Lake Coeur d'Alene and is dammed for power at Post Falls just 4 miles west of CdA.

Another shot of the Dam..

taken in the late summer with less water going over than in springtime.  From here is an easy path to where the contract between the settlers & Indians is still on the rocks.

Floating Green

Coeur d'Alene is probably most famous for it's floating golf green.  I understand it is the only one like it in the world.  After the ball is played, the players take a small boat out to the island green to finish the hole.

The view from our home office.
We entertain feathered friends both summer and winter.  Frequent guests include Chickadees and Sparrows, with Downy Woodpeckers, Flickers, Nuthatches, Robins, and Mountain Goldfinch as occasionally.  In spring & summer, our Humming Bird visits the kitchen window feeder.
A pair of House Finches enjoy lunch.
Spring in CdA

Spring brings a lot of flowers, bulbs, Lilacs, & fruit tree blossoms.  In our yards are pear, apple, plum, & 3 kinds of Cherries.
Unfortunately, lots of weeds grow up between the Tulips, etc. to be cleaned out each year.  But ... what better excuse to be out in the fresh air & sunshine?

4th of July

Coeur d'Alene celebrates with fireworks, parades, & more like most towns.  This 1st photo is the shore of Lake CdA from Tubbs Hill awaiting the start of the fire works.  Folks swim, picnic and just enjoy what is usually a nice day.
One of my traditions is a red, white, and blue garden.  This year it was a flower basket with a flag for decoration.  Lizi our African Sokoke is just interested in the sun & fresh air.
