North American Sokoke Association
Mission Statement:
"To preserve, promote and protect the Sokoke Cat."

Statement of Purpose:

To implement guidelines to ensure continued breeding and research aimed at preserving, and in turn protecting, the Sokoke as well as their forest home and the unknown Sokokes still there.

To accomplish this purpose, we vow to work together as breeders and Sokoke lovers to the betterment and improvement of the breed.  To stay in touch and consult with each other, exchanging breeding animals, and placing the highest priority on kittens as breeders.
We further vow to share all information to be kept in a data base along with our pedigree information so that we can begin to research our own breed and keep on top of any problems that may be there, as well as to have information to use as a guideline for planning future breeding crosses.
To encourage members to promote Sokokes, the Association will provide free flyers (20 per year) to members for distribution to the public at cat shows, fairs, bazaars, and any other public forum we can gain permission to bring our cats and information to.  Flyers are copiable and will be sent with one unfolded for copying.
We have "adopted" the Friends of the Arabuko Sokoke Forest to recieve 10% of our membership fees and 10% of the proceeds from the sale of our framable Certified Pedigrees. Click here for a sample pedigree.

Sokoke Cat Registry:

To maintain complete and accurate pedigrees and records of all Sokokes, not just those in America and to issue "Certified Pedigrees".

We will collect all pedigree information from any source available.  All cats and kittens are registered with NASA at no charge to insure full information.  The pedigrees will be available on line for free access to any interested party and to encourage corrections and additional information.
The "Certified Pedigrees" are designed to be beautiful and suitable for framing as gifts, etc.  They are 8 1/2" x 11" in size, in full color, and include a color photo of the cat provided by the owner.

Meetings:

Meetings will be informal and called by the Chairperson as needed.  Purhaps in the future a more regular meeting schedule will be required and this will change.  Any member can request a meeting by contacting the Chairperson or Vice Chair.
Meetings can be on line or held in conjunction with a show or other activity where many members will attend.

We are looking at a September meeting so that the minutes will be available for the October issue of the newsletter.  So, get your memberships in to be included in this very important meeting!!
