| Here is the report Lynn E-mailed
(received 9/3/03) reguarding the TICA Board Meeting in Green Bay, Wisconsin
to decide whether or not to accept Sokokes for registration.:
"We are IN" "Lizi and Fulani decided to try to breed in the huge vinyl crate in the back of my Jeep about half-way there-it was a 24 hour drive. Lizi pranced along the tables and ended up hugging Leslie Bowers towards the end of her meeting the entire Board. I passed out the large picture page I printed and the brochure from Pat as well as the question/answer format from Anita-Bobbie Tullo, the Judging Administrator will put the question/answer pages in the Judge's Newsletter and also have the hand-outs for interested Judges. ' "Lizi's extreme-read: NON-BENGAL Type was a real attention-getter, several Judges commented on how exquisite her Type was and also on how Uniform the Look was with Fulani, even thought he is much, much larger!" "Fulani was on Exhibition the weekend in the showhall-many Bengal Breeders and others asked for me to take him out and were very interested to see a good Sokoke in person. I dispelled in one weekend a commonly held belief that Sokokes are like crummy Bengals,or look like Bengal-mixes. DeWayne Barnes, the VP of TICA suggested we put together a traits chart and point out HOW our Breed differs from Bengal as well as OS in the head, tail, body, pattern, etc. This will be done for our education seminars... Which I told him I do in my mind's eye every Day, and I think it a good idea to help train the eye of an incoming Judge, breeder, or Fancier to "see" what we take for granted by living with the Breed..." "The Kurilian Bobtail from Russia was also accepted at the meeting, and they put together a differences chart to differentiate between the Japanese Bobtail, American Bobtail, Pixie-Bob and Manx, I believe. I passed out all the materials I brought and had printed, and Fulani bred Lizi in my friend's shower-I THINK. They were non-cat people so it was a real experience." "They rode together like an old couple all the way home, and are now in a honeymoon suite downstairs! I had called Pat and let her know we got accepted on Friday but maybe she didn't get the voicemail ?" "Please post on all the Lists-I am going to get the scoop now to register the found cats as well as the FiFe and CCA cats with TICA now. I am e-mailing Jeannie in Kenya. I would like to thank EVERYONE here who HELPED this become a REALITY-the Standard sailed through with no corrections, the buzz was definately on by the Time I arrived with the cats, and the pictures and information generated alot of positive, excited response of serious cat fanciers, which is what we need to get going with this Breed." "I will be back on with details on registration, etc. We can plan on educational materials and presentations in the Future, too. THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE!!!!!!!!" Lynn |
