Science fiction

FireflyFans.net http://www.fireflyfans.net/
Fun 2002 crossover scifi/Western show by Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) canceled by Fox after a dozen episodes. Then about a zillion people bought the series on DVD. The movie Serenity premiered 30 September 2005 and is on DVD in your local video store.
Doctor Who http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/
The Doctor is back again, and that's a good thing.
The Lurker's Guide to Babylon 5 http://www.midwinter.com/lurk/lurker.html
Babylon 5 Warner site http://www2.warnerbros.com/babylon5/
I enjoyed Babylon 5 very much before it disappeared onto cable. It looks like you can order the entire series as a DVD set for about US$200.
Farscape http://www.farscape.com/
A fun 1999-2003 cable series and 2004 mini-series, about a present-day astronaut who accidentally travels through a wormhole.
Threshold
A 2005 alien-invasion show I liked, with Carla Gugino and Brent Spiner; cancelled by CBS after ten episodes.

I rather like these shows; not as clever as Next Generation, but kinda fun. I think the real DoD could project force through those stargates better though. I bet you could wrap up a few Cobra attack helicopters so they'd make it through, for instance, assuming a fuel supply could be arranged.

Star Trek

Summer 2005: no new Star Trek on television for the first time in eighteen years. Dyed-in-the-wool Trek fans refer to this situation as "stranded."

About Voyager: "I enjoy all things Star Trek, but I am bothered by the fact that they are lost in a sector of space that has no Klingons, Romulans or Vulcans. That's like moving Beverly Hills, 90210 to a trailer park. This has 'Management Decision' written all over it."   Dilbert, Scott Adams

Star Trek: Enterprise (2001-2005) http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/series/ENT/
Paramount/UPN Trek series with Scott Bakula as captain was set in the 22nd century, a hundred years before Kirk and Spock, before the founding of the Federation. I liked it a lot, at least early on, but it didn't do well in the ratings. Now in syndication.
Star Trek: Voyager (1995-2001) http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/series/VOY/
I thought this one was a major disappointment, although I liked the characters. Did Voyager kill the franchise? Or was it 9/11?
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993-1999) http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/series/DS9/
My favorite
Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987-1994) http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/series/TNG/
Sometimes called "the thinking man's Star Trek."
Star Trek (1966-1969) http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/series/TOS/
The original series
Klingon Language Institute http://www.kli.org/
There's an actual full spoken and written Klingon language; the stuff the Klingons snarl in Trek episodes actually has meaning.

Some people clearly have way too much time.
