Welcome to Joy's Geology Page

The earth is a dynamic planet spanning 7,296 miles across. It is the third planet from the sun, 93 million miles away from its glowing warmth.

The earth as seen from outer space is a sphere, but not a perfect sphere. The diameter, distance around the earth, at the earth's middle, the equator, is 26 miles longer than the distance around the earth at the poles. The earth is short and fat.
You can't tell by looking at a picture of the earth, but it is made up of many layers.
