The Dance Street Ballroom is
owned and operated by Amanda Hansen, with a lot of help from her
wonderful husband, Jon, and terrific parents, Gary & Lynda.
Our 3 story, red-brick building was built in 1910 as the stables for the original
Broadview dairy. It's been in the family since the mid-1950s,
when my grandparents bought it to house their sheet metal business,
Fox-Smith Sheet Metal. They retired in 1978, and for almost
twenty years the building was essentially a warehouse. In 1997
we remodeled the main floor into a Ballroom dance studio. Three years
later our own wedding reception was the first event held here, and
we discovered that the hardwood dance floor could take whatever a
fun bunch of people could dish out. With that worry over, we
started hosting wedding receptions and other events on a regular
basis and now enjoy about 40 events per year. While we welcome
celebratory events of all kinds, we do specialize in wedding
ceremonies and receptions. We've learned a
lot about both dance instruction and event facilitation since we first started, and enjoy sharing that knowledge with
all of our clients.
Our basic philosophy about
dance lessons is that they should exercise your mind and body, but
still be something fun to look forward to. You shouldn't have to
mortgage your house or quit your job in order to learn how to dance.
We welcome both casual and serious students, and have
learning formats to fit almost any budget.
After more
than 200 wedding receptions we certainly know how much planning and energy
they take. Starting to plan from scratch can be daunting, and
we enjoy providing our couples with a small ream of paperwork full
of checklists and accumulated wisdoms, as well as suggestions for
reputable vendors for the cake, catering, photography, music, etc.
We hope to make things as easy as possible on our
couples while still allowing them as many individual choices as
possible, and we're always happy to answer any wedding questions
they might have or
provide a sounding board for ideas.
Whether it's through an event or a batch of dance lessons,
we hope that you'll find the Dance Street Ballroom to be
the perfect place to build many warm and happy memories for you and your
family.
