These lists are formed from my own personal experiences over the last nine years of hosting weddings are receptions.  These caterers and DJs are the cream of the local crop.  They are professional, timely, and provide a good value for your money - excellent service for reasonable rates.  No one gives me a kick-back for being on this list, and no one can ask or pay to be on it.  It's just one way to help you make informed decisions about the vendors you choose, and to hopefully help your day run as smoothly as possible.

Preferred Caterers

They take care of EVERYTHING that we don't!  Great food, punch/water/coffee, table clearing, trash, cake cutting, & bartending service.  No additional service assistants are needed with these seven full-service, preferred caterers.  Prices vary widely, so call around, take notes, and make sure you are comparing them adequately.  (Some questions to ask:  Are the non-alcoholic beverages included in the price?  Is disposable or real dishware included?  How about cake plates/napkins/forks?  Do they offer a "green option" for their disposable dishware?  Is there an extra fee for cake cutting?  Are bartenders included?  What's the service charge &/or gratuity?  Is there a corkage fee?  Are the bartenders tipped by guests?  Do they leave the leftover food for you, and if so, do they provide leftover containers?)  Appetizer buffets start around $10/pp, and dinner buffets around $14/pp.  Catering is one of the "big three" expenses along with your reception facility and photographer, and food is one of the main elements you will remember from the day.

Preferred DJs

I cannot stress how important it is to have a third-party Master of Ceremonies.  Someone outside the event, who won't be caught up in the revelry and miss the timeline of  important details (like cutting the cake.)  Yes, they'll play great music too, but it's really about them running the event, coordinating with other vendors (caterers, photographers), and generally taking the burden off of your friends and family.  An Ipod just can't do all of that.

These DJs will take your reception in hand and make sure everyone knows what's happening and when.  They will watch the clock for you, allowing you and your family to relax and enjoy the whole magical night.  This is well-spent wedding money in my opinion, and will have a much more lasting effect that expensive favors, masses of flower arrangements, or ice sculptures.  Your memories are what you'll have at the end, and these DJs specialize in creating fabulous memories!

Remember that your food will be ready at the pre-arranged time, and it's not polite to keep chicken waiting.  Consult with your vendors, who do this much more regularly than you do, as to your timeline.  Your facility operator and photographer will be invaluable resources for this element.
