What a great success our 30th class reunion was!

Held Friday, July 26, 2002 at Mont Lamm Belgian’s facility just off HYW 395 between Deer Park & Clayton, was the perfect setting for a group of our size. The location provided us with a beautiful & comfortable place for casual wear within our home town area. What fun we had visiting catching up on news and making new memories. We had 90 some attend and a few more that met with us at Mix Park after the Settler’s Parade for the potluck.

We started our evening with a social hour at 6:30 pm. The class photo taken about 7:30 pm was followed by the most delicious Dinner catered by one of our own classmates Cindy (Mattausch) Haynes. Baron of Beef, Roast Turkey, Au Gratin Potatoes, Caesar Salad, Fresh Fruit Salad, Rolls, Cake, Dessert Bars & Beverages.

Jim Little set up his music & sound system in the gazebo by the lovely waterfall and classmates enjoyed the music on the patio. Bonnie (Ziehnert) Hughes & Warren (Strong) Strong entertained us with a skit for the program that had us in stitches!

Our Class song with an up dated verse was sung wonderfully by Warren Strong, Gordon Grove, Dan Huffman & Ken Elliot! Dennis & Lettie Whisman gave the announcements of Sponsor’s & Donations & also the awards. Kim Lynch won for being the first classmate to respond to the class letter two reunions in a row. (Return your reunion response letters as soon as you get them for the 35th to see if you can win & give Kim a challenge!)

Yes the cameras were flashing but we will put it all together on a CD flip album for the 35th reunion for all who want one. The CD flip album shown at the reunion that Dennis & Lettie Whisman and Jim Little put together was a big hit. It had pictures and the letters to the class set to the theme song “Welcome back”, and some past reunion pictures too! Another big hit was the work of Dan Huffman & Gordon Grove, a VHS Video Tape also shown at the reunion. They artistically put together our graduation pictures from the annual and other clips set to music. If you would like to get one or the other or both and missed out you can contact Dennis or Lettie Whisman. Cost $5.00 each plus postage. All profits go into the class reunion fund.

Saturday, July 27th 2002 began at Mix Park at 8:00am, for some sooner where Lee Eickmeyer’s flat bed school bus was decorated for the parade, minus Bonnie’s helium balloons that escaped her to see the festivities from much higher view. “Park n’ Ride” This worked out very well, guaranteeing the best parking spots and Lee gave us a nice ride through the parade, returning us back to Mix Park. Hopefully at the 35th reunion there will be more classmates who will ride through the parade as we were shown up by the class of 1952 who had more people in their matching blue shirts.

And we must remember to mention the Alumni band that showed up with their instrument in hand for the parade. Gordon Grove & Dan Huffman after marching through with the band back tracked to ride the last of the parade on Lee’s bus. What dedication! After the parade classmates met under the class of 1972 banner for potluck and visiting. Followed by a tour of the newly remodeled Junior High, (our old High School) by Dan Huffman. Several showed up for this and were not disappointed as this was well worth the time.

Deer Park’s Settlers week-end provided many other activities as well, such as the rodeo and a lot of people gathered at the Eagle’s Lodge later in the evening to listen to the band and visit more.

Note*

Please look at your old photo’s for anything that we haven’t used so far, such as home room pictures, individual pictures, news paper clippings, picture of that car you drove, photos of the school buildings and grounds back in our school days, etc….

Send us a wallet size photo of you in your before school years and we can make a fun, “Can you guess who this is” section. Be sure to let us know so we can have an answer section, would be helpful don’t you think!

Besides being fun to get out the photos you can give us a wealth of new stuff to work with for our 35th reunion. Don’t worry to much about if we have it or not, just email it to Dennis.
