Wendy and Mark install a Jaquuzzi Bathtub.

We decided to install one that fit in the current hole so we wouldn't have to move plumbing or walls. Here's kinda how it went.........

This is what the old tub looked like before the work started. You cant see the wear in this graphic, but it's pretty worn out. There was plain white tile around the tub up about 5 feet. We kept as much as possible.
The first step is to remove the old tiles so the old tub can come out. We removed one row all around, and Mark's over aggressive hammering took a few more tiles than needed around the soapdish. Not too bad!

You can sort of see the old plumbing here, which had to go! After looking at the old fixture plumbing, we decided that a profesional should come and do the copper welding.

For the plumber to come I had to do a small wall modification so he could get at the pipes! Big mirror sized hole was the answer. OUCH!

We thought about getting a mirror to fit that hole, but later decided to sheetrock it back over. Should've bought the mirror!!

The tub shows up, notice that the up wasn't when the tub showed up. Hmmm...

There was also another problem. Wendy told them the WALL was on the left had side and the highly paid trained professional sold her a tub with the skirt on the LEFT HAND (CETRA LH W/SKT) side. Duh!

They were able to deliver another quickly however! It saved the weekend for me!

The pump has an 18" cord on it, barely enough to get to a wall. I took the box in the upper left and put a tap in down to the metal box in the middle. that box has a GFI receptacle in it and a little door in the wall if we need to reset it. The motor draws about 1/2 the current available for this cuircuit so don't plug in any big heaters while bathing!
Wendy did great work with the surround. She picked out the fancy stuff and set all the tiles. So far only the soap dish fell off, but that's because I sprayed it with the shower head about 4 hours after she set it... OOOOPS!
Getting that puppy into it's place was no small task. We had to push and tip and pray and kick. There was just no way I wanted to remove the toilet for this. A couple of weeks of back pain would be more tolerable...

And that's about what it was too!

PROOF! It's in there! Wendy finished the tile work, I sheetrocked the wall.
PLEAD GOD, NO LEAKS!!!!
There is the sheeted wall. Actually, the tub has been done about 6 weeks now, and the wall is not yet covered. She is still waiting for me to finish finishing the sheet rock so we can paint or cover with decorative mirrors, or whatever!
