04/08/02 Update

I've just finished the engine. It was a little more work than I had anticipated. The good news was that when I got inside, it was very clean and did appear to have low miles on it. I replaced the following,

  • Double roller timing chain for good measure
  • Oil pan and pickup
  • Mopar Performance high volume oil pump
  • Mopar performance valve covers
  • Mopar Performance electronic ignition, with performance curve
  • Edelbrock Performer carburator, 600 cfm, new rebuild
  • Heddman shorty style headers
  • Schweitzer Engineering Magnum motor mounts
  • Felpro gasket set and all the other little stuff.

Finally, all cleaned up and painted Chrysler blue. This view shows the assembly shortly after painting.

Here the engine is completely assembled. You can see the newly rebuilt carb and new distributer.

This view shows the headers better. I hope they fit in the engine bay. Headers are always a bitch. You can also see the new E-body engine mounts.
