If you would like to submit your character for inclusion in the Legends of Iliac Bay database, here is what you need to do.
- You must have Daggerfall V 2.13... Any characters created with an earlier version that will not function under V 2.13 will not be accepted. You should also get the "Addquest" files, just in case. Go to the Files page on this site if you don't have these, you can download them there.
- You need to have a character of minimum level 10. Unless your character is at least level 10, please do not submit him/her. This is the lowest level we can accept, or we will be swamped with small, insignificant characters, which only makes the page load slower. It also costs us more to pay for webspace, and who really wants to see characters lower than tenth level anyway? Are they worth bragging about?
- Send us an Email describing your character. Do not include your character files with this email! Here's what we need to know:
- The character's name, level, race, and class name.
- Four descriptive terms of one or two words each, defining your class. Looking at the View Characters page at this site will explain what I mean.
- Primary, major, and minor skills, in order from top to bottom. If you wish, you can make a comment on one if the percentage merits it, but it may or may not be included in the final result. Please do not list the miscellaneous skills.
- Your character's affiliations, listing both association and rank.
- A short essay on your character. This is what people are going to read on the page, so try to make it interesting. Explain what makes your character unique, how he was developed, why he is cool, his personality, beliefs, etc... You get the point. Try to make it in-depth, maybe 200 words or so, but please do not make it too long, and keep the language clean; there are kids that play Daggerfall too. Keep in mind, this description may be edited for grammar, length and to make sense if it doesn't.
- Tell me if the character has a custom biography or not. A custom bio is not at all necessary, but if you have one, it will greatly improve the chances of people role playing your character "the right way", and understanding your character's motivations, views, etc. I recommend a program called "EditBio", you can get it from the Files page on this site.
- Tell me exactly what modifications you have made to your character. By this I mean through the use of a saved game editor, graphic editor, item maker, whatever. This site will not discriminate against characters that were generated or modified using various "cheat" programs, but be aware that they have their own category. Please be honest about this, as there is no "official" way of knowing. If you try to send me a level 40 character that belongs to all of the temples, for example, I will expect you to fess up to using an editor of some type.
- If your character is 100% legitimate, has never died, and is at least level 15, let me know, and I will consider awarding your character with the highest rank, the Diamond. In this, especially, I expect you to be completely honest. See the View Characters page for details.
- Tell me if you have any objections to posting your name (not your character's name) and your Email address with your character. One of the biggest rewards of posting your character is getting mail from other players praising you for developing such a cool character. By default, this information will be posted, unless you specifically request otherwise.
- Wait for me to get back to you before you email the actual character. Unexpected attachments in my mail really piss me off, and if I get one, you will be banned from ever posting a character at this site. I will read your application, and will most likely get back to you the day you send it to me.
- I will give you the O.K. to upload the character to me when I respond, or tell you that you have not been accepted. Pretty much every character will be accepted, unless they are particularly ordinary, or do not meet one or more of the requirements. Please ZIP the entire folder containing your character (i.e. save0, save1, etc). Do not send us a separate picture file of your character, I will do that myself.
- If for some reason you are unable to meet one of the requirements that do not concern your character (like zipping files, whatever), let me know in your mail, and we will try to work around it.
- You character will be posted the next time I update the page.
Please keep in mind that this is not a competition of any kind. Every character here is treated with equal merit, within their grouping. Lying to me about anything on your character, specifically about dying and cheating, is completely unacceptable. If you are posting your character on this page, then you are probably doing it out of pride. If you lie about something to change how your character is represented on this site, then not only are you forfeiting your own enjoyment, but those who are honest about it have to deal with dishonest people in their rightful space. Honesty is the best policy, and your own knowledge that your character is ranked correctly improves everyone else's enjoyment of the page too. In short, DON'T LIE!!!
