Not So Random Thoughts...
November / December 2000

I have begun to hear the phrase "as the year winds down" and variations based on tense and the situation coming up more and more in conversations. Is it really? Not from outward appearances, is it? As we delve into the holiday season, things speed up don't they? Or do they? Listen to those around you and see if they mention "end of the year". Then, look around you. Notice anything? Our side of the planet is getting into Winter mode, and "slowing down". Or is it?

Our perception is that the world around us is slowing down. But it isn't. This incredible planet we live on is very much alive and moving at it's normal rotational velocity. The southern half is waking up and jumping into spring and summer.

Our calendar "says" the year is ending, but look at what happens towards the end of the year. All the holidays, the gatherings, businesses preparing for tax time, all the accounting that gets done. Sure, we get to start dating things ending in 01 instead of 00 (I use the full "2000" because a couple of zeroes seemes rather empty) quite soon, and one month turns to another. So, what is slowing down?

You.

Even though it's getting colder, the calendar is running out - keep your thinking in line with the Universe and you will begin to look forward to this time of year. I do. I look forward to sharing all that I am Thankful for, giving of my time, talent, treasures, and whatever else makes others smile. I look forward to the gatherings of friends and the wonderful co-workers I am blessed with. Living in the Now is so exciting during the holidays. The more I do it, the more relaxed my world becomes. Try it and let me know.
