From my heart to yours… Dear Member/Friend,

I love what Dr. David Walker wrote in February Creative Thought magazine “…all people have the same ultimate destinies, whether those destinies manifest today or tomorrow, in this lifetime or the next.” or whenever. This makes me remember that there is no time in the mind of God. What would the world be like if everyone knew this…and…believed it? Knew about time…knew about ultimate destinies?…knew we live forever? Can it be true? The question is not “Can it be true?” It is “Can you believe it?” “It is done unto you, as you believe.” As you believe. Who knew you had so much power? I know people whose lives have been changed by this Truth. I know some whose lives would be utterly and completely transformed if they believed this to be true, particularly those in the process of transition. I know some whose lives are. “Even in the dying process, the pulse of life goes on. Until the moment of transition, the body continues to breathe animated by the pulse of life. At the moment of death the pulse of life simply beats on into another kind of existence for the spirit.” What an awesome revelation. “Be ye transformed by the renewal of your mind.” Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?

The truth is, it doesn’t matter what church, temple or synagogue we attend or don’t or whether we simply “be” where we are, glorying in the magnificence of God’s Creation. The same Good, the same God, the same Universal Presence underlies all. It’s not God that gets confused and misinterprets Truth, it’s not God that judges things, people, places and situations to be right or wrong or thinks there is only one right way to “be.” It doesn’t matter if we’re Buddhists or Baptists or Religious Scientists or whatever we choose to call ourselves. God doesn’t care what our label is. I saw a sign on a church once that said, “God wants spiritual fruits, not religious nuts”… food for thought.

Since it’s true we all have the same ultimate destiny it behooves us to ask ourselves, “What am I doing, how am I living my life, who am I living my life for? God…myself…or perhaps more spiritually aware, God as myself?” Then…Where am I going? Am I on my way, or am I stuck someplace because it isn’t as scary as moving anyplace!

Sometimes we feel so special…and sometimes so puny. We are never puny, however everyone else is special, too! That’s the part that’s harder to believe. We’re all the same, only we look different, we act different, so we fool ourselves into thinking we are different. You could say we’re like Jelly Bellys, my current indulgence. We can be like a plain ole garden variety jelly bean, or we can be the elite kind that costs a whole lot more, but is still really not that much different, except in the way we think about it. Made of the same stuff, an original idea in the mind of God, where everything gets its start. Like Jelly Belly’s, we’re a whole lot of different flavors and colors and tastes. Some of us are like one kind and some are like another and some are even a mixture like when we pop a whole bunch in our mouth at once and create something like “jelly bean stew.” So those we don’t know or don’t understand or don’t like, we think aren’t okay, forgetting “they are us.” They’re beans, too. Sometimes I feel like a jelly bean that just grew arms and legs! Then I get to remind myself what I’m about. I’m about God and God’s business. The truth is we’re all okay. I’m blessed to have special people in my life who know this. They’re a great example because they don’t think they are the only “okay” jelly bean in the bag. They prefer diversity. They don’t live their beliefs only on Sundays or save them for only when they’re with people they might want to impress. They don’t just use them for special occasions or celebrations. They strive to live what they believe at every moment. Because this is true, everyone in their presence is blessed. I believe their ultimate destiny will manifest sooner rather than later.

Growing together in love,

Rev. Doris
