Do Not Forget
by
Amethyst

Though we were born to die and be replaced
upon the coming tide, do not forget
that I have shared your quest without regret,
and I will keep the image of your face.
And if perchance the nearest star could hold
in its millenium one other spark,
I'd ask it to contain my veiled heart
alight with fire so you could once behold
your own reflection there in deepest flame,
each smile and gesture etched. Each look from those
sad eyes I treasured, most uncommon rose,
here in this green and holy place we trod
until like vanished roses we became
a fragrance in the memory of God.
