Silence
by
Amethyst

I would drown too willingly
in the green-gold pools of your eyes,
submerge myself, be lost entirely
in that bright silence until
no shadow of me remained.

I would taste the lingering half-smile
of your mouth, my heart
counting the pulse of universes
in breathless silence,
the millennia of stars.

I would still the echo of past tears,
divert remorseful rivers that carve
your dreaming soul
with their sad silence
and mar your perfect face.

I would bask in the sun
of your enfolding arms, drink
the momentary, shadowed peace
of love expressed only
in honeyed silence.

I would bless the stillness
nurturing the dream that holds us,
that comforts the restless,
ever-shifting dream
which whispers only silence.

Ask me, promise me, trust me.
Speak the syllables with your hands.
In my velvet heart there rests a crystal;
In silent moonlight, each facet
reflects your face.
