Our A.C.O.'s (Animal Control Officers), respond to wide range of calls from the citizenry. Typically, requests for contained stray animal pickups and stray animal at large patrols, comprise the majority of calls received by our dispatcher. However, when a hit by car or aggressive dog at large call comes in, it is not uncommon to see multiple units dispatched to the scene. From cruelty investigations to rescues, our officers have a close professional relationship with the Spokane Police Department, EMT, and 911 personnel, and are often requested as back-up units.
SpokAnimal A.C.O.'s work in partnership with the Spokane County Health District in the investigation and verification of reported dog and cat bites. Each case is unique, and the rights of both the victim and the animal must be protected.
