DEVELOPMENT:
SpokAnimal's Development Department is the backbone of fund raising, marketing, and volunteerism, for the Shelter. Additionally, the coordination and or creation of special events throughout the year, is initiated from this department.
Special events such as SpokAnimal's 'Kids 'n Kritters' Fun Walk
(at right), bring animals and their humans together
for exercise, companionship, and a good time!
|
Other special events such as SpokAnimal's Annual Old Time Country Auction, now in its 8th year, or WOOFSTOCK, which features live music from local bands, help draw attention to the work the shelter is doing and its need for support here in the city of Spokane.
|
Part of SpokAnimal C.A.R.E.'s adoption placement success comes in the form of an enlightened local media. Left, the local NBC affiliate 'Q6' provides exposure to the cause of finding homes for the area's abandoned animals and children....
Again it is the Development Department who is charged with the cultivation of the media's understanding relative animal control and animal abandonment issues specific to our area. Positive media exposure has proven to be a powerful tool in the Shelter's quest to form a 'no kill network' in Eastern Washington by 2005.
|
Additionally, SpokAnimal's Development Department has an ongoing engagement with grant writing, direct mail appeals, and public relations.
But most importantly by far is the recruitment and retention of the Shelter's volunteer corps. SpokAnimal volunteers assist in the organization and staffing of special events, in addition to assisting regular staff in daily Shelter operations. SpokAnimal volunteers perform a variety of functions from administrative tasks to just plain 'loving on the animals!'
