DSL Setup for Cisco 605

Install the Modem's PPP device drive.
    To install the modem's device drive, you must have the Ciso605 Support compact disc.
  1. Turn on power to your computer. Windows automatically detects you new hardware and displays the 'Add New Hardware Wizard'. The wizard shows that it detected a 'PCI ATM Controller'. If the internal modem isn't installed correctly, the wizard may not appear. Insert the Cisco605 Support CD in the CD-ROM disk drive. Click Next.
  2. Click Search for the best driver for your device. Click Next.
  3. Click the small box to the left of the 'Specify a location' option to put a check mark in it.
  4. No other boxes should be checked. If there's a check mark in the box next to Floppy disks drive, click the box to uncheck it. In the large box below Specify a location, type in "[CD-ROM letter]:\ppp\win98". Replace [CD-ROM letter] with the letter for the CD-Rom drice on you computer. Dont type the brackets or the quotes. Click Next.
  5. Windows should find the driver on the Cisco605 Support CD as "Cisco605 PCI ADSL Adapter Driver for PPP". Click Next.
  6. Windows will copy the driver files from the Cisco605 Support CD to your computer. Windows may prompt you to insert your Windows 98 compact disc. If it does, eject the Cisco605 Support CD and insert the Windows 98 CD. Click OK. At the copying files window, your CD-ROM's drive letter should appear in the "Copy Files from" box. Click OK again.
  7. Click 'Finish'.
  8. Windows should prompt you to restart your computer. Eject the CD then click 'Yes' to restart your computer.
Configure the PPP Dialer
  1. On the Windows desktop, double-click the My Computer icon.
  2. Double-click the Dial-Up Networking icon.
  3. Double-click the Make New Connection icon.
  4. Type in "IcehouseDSL" in the 'Name' field.
  5. In the Select a device box, select the Cisco605Line01. Click Next.
  6. Type your VCI number in the 'Telephone number' box. Type "1" in the 'VCI' box. Leave the 'Area code' and 'Country Code' boxes blank and click 'Next'.
  7. Click 'Finish'.
  8. After that you should now see a new icon created called "IcehouseDSL". With your right mouse button click on the "Icehouse DSL" icon and select 'Properties' from the menu.
  9. Remove the check mark from the 'Use Area Code and Dialing Properties' box.
  10. Click the Server types tab.
  11. Click to remove the check marks from the following boxes:
    • Log on to network
    • NetBEUI
    • IPX/SPX Compatible
  12. Click 'Ok'.
Connecting your computer to the Internet
  1. In your 'Dial-Up Networking' folder, double-click on the "IcehouseDSL" icon.
  2. Type in your username and password that you have selected with Icehouse. Make sure to type them both in the correct case because they are both case sensitive.
  3. Click 'Connect'. This can take from 30-60 seconds to connect. Once the connection is made a 'Connected' window appears. Click 'Ok'.
  4. To disconnect from the dsl services, double-click the connection icon in the system tray and then click on the 'Disconnect' button.
